Triple Lock and Neutrality

Irish 'leadership' voted to reduce the barriers to deploying Irish troops on various peacekeeping missions. The argument being:

-Putin ! or Xi! or Trump! could tell us they do not want our troops in a specific region!

-Who is Putin!, Xi! or Trump! to tell us where and when we can place our military forces!

-If we want to keep the peace on the mexican border or in taiwan or in the donetsk or in belfast or anywhere else we deem suitable then we should be able to!

-We are the only country that allows this! We don't want to be different from everyone else! We want to do whatever we want !

The whole point of it is that we are neutral! We don't take sides, don't risk antagonising others with armed troops. People don't know what the definition of neutral actually means anymore:

At the end of the day this is the entire point of the triple lock agreement. If a neutral country wants to deploy armed military forces (regardless of the stated peacekeeping objective or pretense, they are armed military forces) and are told by a very much not neutral country that they do not want those armed troops in a certain region - then neutrality is maintained. By removing this veto, the neutral state now risks antagonising non neutral states by placing armed troops in vicinities they deem to be strategically important or disputed.

The actual state or states in question do not matter - what matters is that as a neutral actor you do not deploy armed forces in regions that present perceived threats to other states or that they deem of strategic importance. If, for example, they deployed peacekeepers to the congo 10 years ago but french and russian interests deemed it of importance for their own interests and started operations in there, they could express this by vetoing our peacekeeping attempt - it actually conveys a huge amount of information to the world stage and further than that it ENSURES WE REMAIN NEUTRAL BY NOT INTERFERING WITH INTERESTS OF OTHER GEOPOLITICAL ACTORS WHO ARE MUCH LARGER AND MUCH MORE HOSTILE, IN REGIONS OF NO REAL INTEREST TO US. By removing this internationally guaranteed mechanism of neutrality we have sacrificed our status as a true neutral and the oppurtunity to be so much more - a place for all nations to voice their opinion with no judgement, a neutral space to broker talks etc, who knows what else was possible. But instead a crowd of incompetent, fearful middle managers made a decision on behalf of 5 million people.

If Israel invades Lebanon, which they did, what use are 100 peacekeepers? Are they expected to shoot at the invaders? No, they are withdrawn from the active war zone. They are told to stay out of it. Now we are just going to start deploying people willy nilly because we have a uniparty?

So what use is it that we can now send peacekeepers wherever we want? Increasing risk of antagonism of extremely large, hostile states with interests that are really none of our business. Whatever the stated reasoning for removing this, it greases the skis for further erosion of neutrality, opens the door for misleading 'peacekeeping' deployments, opens the door for open hostility against our activities and country and more than anything else proves that the current government does not have any respect for the people of ireland, no referendum on it, no thought of asking anyone for their opinion just a coup.

People seem to miss the forest for the trees entirely; this all comes as the EU attempts to incite fear+discord and rally up its citizens (which it has been regulating, taxing and impoverishing for the last 10 years) into a state of emergency of some description. All at the same time living conditions are materially disimproving for its youth; housing crises, energy crises, cost of living crises, social degeneration, public services crises, widespread and seemingly constant protests, inflation, wealth inequality, technology induced polarisation and balkanisation, mass movement of millions of peoples into the continent, fiat currency overprinting and the list goes on.

Handy time to have a scrap! One of my favorite theories: external conflicts often breed internal cohesion. So what will happen next on the pathway to conscription and a general european wide security state? Who is the big baddie we need to be scared of and check underneath our beds for every night? Big bad orange man? or Big bad Putin man? Maybe big bad China? are they under your bed now? better go check quickly! Actually theyre not under your bed they are undercutting all of your industries and consolidating all of your refining so that you become dependent on their cheap teat as they drag your standard of living down and slowly increase their price to cripple your economy.

The whole point of 'Europe' as a concept and the European Union was to rebuild the continent after the 2 world wars which devasted hundreds of millions of peoples lives, ruined literally the entire continent and ruined the entire world even to the present day. The entire point was 'never again can we allow competition between nation states reach such a point'. But now look - actively encouraging internal fear, ramping up of online propaganda and military build ups. Beyond anything else it is a betrayal of what it means to be a European - a disrespect for your own families histories and sufferings. The same goes for Russia - by continuing a war you disrespect your own legacies, histories and your ancestors

Europe is far better than that, always has been better than that, can obviously do better than that. Do not let a bunch of scared menopausal middle managers drag you down with them lads, same goes for the russians and the iranians and everyone else, your leaders are old and feeling terrified because they have felt the cold winds of time reaching out and the idea of death scares them - but they want you to go and face it so they don't have to, it is some insane end of life or midlife crisis complex. Young people, under 30/40, don't fall for it - there is really no threat from each other, we can all chat to each other online, we all know what the future is about, what the fuck would we ever want to go fight each other for? lets go make money or art or music or whatever else, tell all the old cunts they can go fuck themselves and kill each other if they want to but don't drag us into it, bunch of crippled cretins.

Europe has the capacity to heal the world, but that same capacity they want to use to harm each other. We could collectively stop the Israeli loonies, the Sudanese butchery and god knows how much else. Diplomacy,

Everything else that's going on, technology and all that - they are actively using it to propagandise us, confuse us, numb us, dumb us down, dehumanise us to each other, make us complicit in the violence and degeneracy that gets pumped by the algorithms - it is an active attempt to make us feel powerless and helpless as they degrade our standard of living, strip away our options and make conflict seem inevitable, unavoidable and ultimately like the only option. Do not fall for it - there is always another way, there is always another option even though it may seem unlikely.

Make peace with your friends, your families and anyone you may have mistreated - if we all individually do this, that spreads like a ripple.

Neutrality is Freedom.

1 year on. There’s a lot of C words that could be applied to the Japan I experienced and the people I met, I think these sums it up though: calm, curious, confident, competent, communitarian. Obviousl
