Healthcare Lists:D

Apparently, there are nearly a million people on waiting lists for treatment in Ireland. Bit of a surprise to read that earlier today. An island of five million people :D

Here’s an idea to clear the list. An extremely simplistic and unrealistic idea, but an idea:

1. Bulk Buy Treatment Abroad

  • Buy up private healthcare spots across Europe. The most severe cases go first.

  • Charter a few Ryanair flights, fill them with people who need treatment, send them to wherever will take them.

  • Pay a small margin to hospitals that can handle the cases efficiently.

  • Flights + Treatment + Post-care. Surely can’t be more than €2-3 billion on a one-off spend.

  • Try to do as much of it in Ireland first, but Ireland doesn’t have the capacity. Export people to wherever will fix them the fastest.

2. Temporarily Take Over the Private System

  • Compulsory purchase order / lease the private system in Ireland for a few years.

  • Probably €2-3 billion per year, maybe more.

  • People will get discounted private care, but the beds will be public until the public system stops drowning.

3. Build Capacity

  • Hire foreign specialists who know how to get these things done.

  • Use a combo of -Threats, bonuses, incentives .

  • Blacklists & fines for companies that go over budget or over deadline. Bonuses if done ahead of schedule.

  • Find the best companies abroad for whatever infrastructure issue is at hand, get a bid and a plan from them, then offer the same to Irish companies but with strings attached.

  • Probably €10-15 billion, but at least we’d have hospitals, transport, and functioning infrastructure at the end of it.

The Money Already Exists

  • Healthcare budget is €24 billion this year. It will overrun, and next year it’ll be another 5-10% rise while waiting lists keep growing and the private system keeps profiting off an increasingly unhealthy country. Nip it in the bud early and move on, this does not have to be an eternal and chronic issue, it does start to get boring.

If anyone has actual estimates for costs or opposes the idea, reach out.
